What would be a some good quality woods for making a paddle?

I’m looking to make a couple paddles and need to know of some good quality woods that are easy to cut, also any ideas of the best sanding paper?
FOR MARY G:
NO, I have no plans on beating my childeren, I do NOT even spank my kids. If you don’t have a clue of what I’m talking about you shouldn’t try to answer the question.

Hello

TEAK WOOD is best quality for making Paddle.

It is easy to cut and easy to use sand paper.

SANDLE WOOD is also best quality. It gives you pleasent odour all the day and throught the Year. But cost is very High. It is available only in India, Mayanmar, Srilanka.

I used Teak Wood for my Bed and Teapoy. Also I make Wooden Toys in Teak wood. Also my Grand mother Granded Teak wood Cash Box, Wooden Plate, Wooden Bowel, Ghee pot in Wood, Lamp Stand etc etc. I preserve as Antique.

If easy to work is most important, try white pine or spruce, though spruce is heavy. Hardwoods like birch, maple, are lovely but harder to work. It might depend on what’s available in your area and its price. For sandpaper, just go to your local building supply and see what they’ve got, most of them are pretty good, hope you have a power sander..
