What kind of material should I use to make this pickle-ball paddle?

I am aware of wood, graphite, fiberglass, and composite materials being good materials for paddles, but are there any chemists out there who know of another somewhat cheap, durable, light substance? Thanks!

Kevlar is excellent for high strength and light weight.

    ball …ask John McEnroe

    paddle used with a canoe
