How do I stop the bread getting stuck to my bread-maker paddle?

I love the bread from my bread-maker, but once it’s cooked and I try to get it out of the drum, a big clump of it either sticks to the paddle, or the paddle comes out with the loaf and I have to dig it out of the bread. I have tried everything to stop it sticking but nothing works.
Thanks moojoo. I’ve tried that a few times but it hasn’t worked yet. I guess I’ll just keep trying and put up with holey loaves.

I grease mine with a fairly thick coat of shortening. It doesn’t work every time, but it works… oh, about half of the time. I’ve pretty much resigned myself to not getting pretty loaves of bread from the bread maker.

You can also just make the dough in the bread maker, then bake it in a regular pan in the oven if you don’t want that hole in the bottom of your bread. That’s what I do if I want a pretty loaf.

can a Polyethylene paddle boat be patched with a fiberglass patch?

i just bought a used paddle boat and i noticed it had a patch on it, the guy i got it from never used and didnt patch it, so he didnt know, but i looked the boat up online and found out that its made out of Polyethylene not fiberglass, but the patch on it has like a mesh matherial coted in some kind of thickish orang or red looking stuff, is this fiberglass patch or a patch for Polyethylene? will it leak or sink?

a polyethylene boat can be patched using fiberglass cloth and epoxy. the surface is cleaned and then heated with a flame to scorch the surface, then the surface can be bonded with fbg. cloth and epoxie.

the surface can also be repaired by using heat to weld additional layers of polyethylene to the hull.

hope this helps

Where can i rent paddle boat in Chicago?

Looking to rent a paddle boat in Chicago or surrounding areas.

they used to have paddle boats in Lincoln Park but that is gone, as far as I know, Chicago itself doesn’t have paddle boats to rent. There are rentable paddle boats in Des Plaines at Lake Park, I’ve gone there before.

http://www.dpparks.org/facilities/lake_park.asp

there is one place on this website too

Francesca is paddling due east on the river at 5 mph?

Francesca is paddling due east on the river at 5 mph. However, the river is flowing due north at 7 mph. Find the velocity (magnitude) and direction of her canoe

Velocity More or Less 6.2 mph, Direction More or Less 37o

Velocity More or Less 6.89 mph, Direction More or Less 48o

Velocity More or Less 7.22 mph, Direction More or Less 32o

Velocity More or Less 8.6 mph, Direction More or Less 54o

By a vector diagram, the resultant, which is the path of the canoe, is the hypotenuse of a triangle with legs 5 and 7. Thus:
5^2 + 7^2 = v^2 ==> v = √(5^2 + 7^2) ≈ 8.6 mph.

Since the last option is the only one that mentions this as the velocity, it is the answer.

I hope this helps!

why do they have wooden paddles at hobby lobby?

So that people can spank bad kids that run down the aisles!

Just kidding, some people paint them and hang them in the kitchen as decor. :)

Please vote best answer!

What is going on at the north end of Osoyoos Lake?

I went for a paddle on Osoyoos Lake yesterday and was surprised to see an old-school silver airstream trailer parked at the edge of the lake, at the north end. There was also some heavy machinery and a few horse milling about. Any idea what’s going on up there?

They are building a new cottage development, www.osoyooscottages.com. The airstream trailer is the presentation centre. Construction is scheduled for summer 2012.

Canoe Paddle Buying question?

I found this company a while ago that makes canoe paddles. They were based in Canada and were a small company. They made paddles designed for flatwater paddling, and had 5 or 6 different blade shapes ranging from short and wide to narrow and thin . I however cannot find the company and do not remember its name. I think it started with an R but I am not 100% sure. If you know this company please help or if you know any other company besides Grey Owl, Red Tail, and Ray Kettlewell that make thin long bladed paddles for flatwater paddling please put them down.

I can’t think of any that begin with "R" but you might want to scan this list from the canoe and kayak users website Paddling.net. These are all the paddles that have been reviewed by the boaters on the site and you might recognize the name here:

http://www.paddling.net/Reviews/showAcc.html?cat=1

Unfortunately, they have both kayak and canoe paddles mixed in.

Here’s a list from the same site of a number of canoe paddle companies that have posted information on their current models on there:

http://www.paddling.net/buyersguide/accessories/showCategory.html?cat=3

You could also post your question on the forums of the site (doesn’t cost anything to enroll in it). Look under the "communications" tab for the "message boards", These are super-active forums, unlike most such boards. If you post a question you will get answers immediately , sometimes dozens in one day! I posted a question last week and got 95 responses! Best canoeing information site on the web, in my opinion.

Should I play water polo?

I’m a 13 year old girl, 5"4 and about 110 pounds. I’ve never been like really athletic but I paddle canoe (hawaiian outrigger) and i really enjoy it. I’m going into freshman year and for paddling they recommend you do a sport every season to stay in shape. Paddling is summer and winter and water polo is spring (im still deciding what i wanna do for fall). I can definitely tread water for a long time but im not very fast at swimming. I heard water polo is really violent which i dont really mind but will i like break bones? or is it just bruises and scratches?

If you’re not fast at swimming, you will have a chance to improve at every practice. I suggest playing your freshman year, because it will be a lot less violent than when you get older. You’re going to have to bulk up on muscle so that you can handle your opponent properly. They will be hanging on you, pushing you and maybe kicking you. You will not break bones unless they grab your wrist and twist it, which is highly unlikely. They only grab your swimsuit and arms to make sure you don’t go anywhere. But if you’re ever in a situation where they are inflicting tremendous pain on you, just scream. I HIGHLY doubt that will happen, though. You have to be thinking at all times. But at the end of the day, it’s very fun. Takes a lot of work, but it’s fun.

How do you get a mixing paddle un-stuck from a kitchen aid stand mixer?

I received a kitchen aid stand mixer for Christmas. I’ve only used it a couple dozen times…I went to use it again the other day and the mixing paddle was stuck and won’t come off for cleaning. Any suggestions on how to get it unstuck?

I can’t imagine how it got stuck, unless food got in there and glued it on. You push up, keep pushing up while turning until the slot in the paddle matches the nub on the mixer, and pull down. If you’ve been leaving the paddle on after using it, don’t do that. Remove and clean it each time. If food has glued it on this time, I’d spray some windex on it and let it sit till the paddle will loosen.
