can a Polyethylene paddle boat be patched with a fiberglass patch?

i just bought a used paddle boat and i noticed it had a patch on it, the guy i got it from never used and didnt patch it, so he didnt know, but i looked the boat up online and found out that its made out of Polyethylene not fiberglass, but the patch on it has like a mesh matherial coted in some kind of thickish orang or red looking stuff, is this fiberglass patch or a patch for Polyethylene? will it leak or sink?

a polyethylene boat can be patched using fiberglass cloth and epoxy. the surface is cleaned and then heated with a flame to scorch the surface, then the surface can be bonded with fbg. cloth and epoxie.

the surface can also be repaired by using heat to weld additional layers of polyethylene to the hull.

Looking to rent a paddle boat in Chicago or surrounding areas.

they used to have paddle boats in Lincoln Park but that is gone, as far as I know, Chicago itself doesn’t have paddle boats to rent. There are rentable paddle boats in Des Plaines at Lake Park, I’ve gone there before.

Is it possible to take a paddle boat down the Seine River in Paris? Or do you have to take a bigger cruise boat? I’ve never been to Paris, but I have been learning a little about it.

You do not have to take a big cruise boat. There are smaller boats that give you a guided visit called Vedettes du Pont-Neuf that take about thirty people on board and are very reasonably priced.

To the best of my knowledge unless there is a special event, canoes and tiny boats, etc… are not rented out or do not operate in between the sluices which are kept closed from the Eiffel Tower to the back of Notre-Dame for safety reasons as there are so many larger boats operating between those points. Elsewhere on the Seine all sort of nautical sports are permitted.

Can a luggage rack hold a paddle boat on a car?

Do you think a 7’7" (length) by 5’2" (width) paddle boat would be able to be held on top of a car by a luggage rack? I think it would be, but I wanted more opinions. Thanks

Well, that depends… if you only have a mile or so to go, and you can go nice and slow… then maybe. If however you have to get on a freeway and maintain 55 mph for several miles, I think the wind against that paddle boat will rip your luggage rack right off the top of your car.

You would probably be better off rolling down your windows and strapping that boat directly to the rood of your car, with some heavy duty straps or rope.

Best places to fish in paddle boat in Cincinnati?

I prefer to fish in a paddle boat rather than bank fishing. What are the best places? I usually go to lake Isabella and it can be hit or miss. Was also looking into Sharon woods but it looks like the boat house is only open on the weekends. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Try chumming. Just go down to the lake days or hours before you plan to go fishing. Bring an ice cube tray or paper cups filled with frozen bait. Throw the frozen food into the water in the area that you want to fish in. Now when you come back to fish the food on the bottom will have attracted the fish into that area and you’ll have a lot more luck fishing in that area. Just don’t tell any other fisherman what you’ve done or you might find your fishing area too crowded for you to fit when you come back.
