How can I paint a carbon fiber canoe paddle?

The bottom has been scratched heavily and I would like to add paint before I re epoxy.

Visit a marine supply store or an automobile paint store. Take your paddle along. You will be advised to sand the damaged area and fill any deep gouges with a special filler. They will sell you a marine epoxy paint. Read the directions. Note any temperature or curing directions and follow them.
