What size and thickness are allowed for the spanking paddle at your school ?

Jay: Didn’t they used to use caning in the UK? Why did they outlaw it?

It wasn’t so many years ago that I was in school in the midwestern U.S., and most teachers spanked over clothes with an 18" wooden ruler in front of the class. The principals had larger paddles (about 32" to 36" long, by 3" or 4" wide) with a series of holes in the business end. Most of the spankings with those were over clothes as well, but I got a couple on my bare butt.

    School?

    NONE!

    We don’t allow kids to be hit by teachers in the UK

    Edit: There did use to be caning in the UK yes not a "paddle" but a stick. I guess it was stopped to protect the children as people has abused that position of authority. I think thats the main issue.

    And maybe the fact that parents would see welts on their kids and go beat the headmaster with a stick?.. but more likely the 1st reason..

    Not in my state either . . . I think there was one school still left in the state that had not discontinued this. They stayed in hot water a couple of years ago.

    Seriously, the state allows local school boards to set policy. It just really is not done.

    That became illegal here more than 50 years ago. Where do you live that they still use such a barbaric instrument?
